Title: | The Earliest Baby Carriages |
Description: | An architect living in England in the early 1700s likely developed the first baby carriage when he was asked by a titled nobleman to create a type of transport that would carry the man's children. The resulting creation was a basket shaped like a shell in which a child could sit that would be pulled by a small pony or a goat. A far cry from the type of NYC jogging stroller that might be seen on the streets today, these early prams, as they were called, were not available in America until the beginning of the next century. |
